9 More Board Book Recommendations | travelhappier at home

I love to get the book recommendations of others and thus feel a sort of moral obligation to share books that Jules and I enjoy reading. Plus, board books are the best! You can use them from birth, they are sturdy, and they are great to throw in your bag as a tool of distraction in a restaurant or on the plane. Here are 9 more of our recent favorites:

Remember when there were nine planets? Poor Pluto.

This super adorable book is a cute way to introduce toddlers to the solar system. Fun facts about each planet are presented in rhyme (sometimes only sort-of rhyme lol), and it’s fun to learn new things!

(3) Where’s the Unicorn by Ingela P. Arrhenius

My daughter loved this lift-the-flap book starring dragons, unicorns, and fairies. Where’s the Unicorn? by Ingela P. Arrhenius.

(4) I Love You All Year Long by Steve Metzger, illustrated by Claire Keay

We’ve read this book to her since Jules was a tiny baby and she started to absolutely love it at around 18 months old. She recognizes the pumpkins when it turns autumn and the horses on the carousel - and she just loves pointing out the mama and baby on every page. This one’s a heartsplosion for mamas.

We got this book while on vacation in Park City. It captures the wonderment of bringing home a newborn baby and the sweetness in getting to know each other.

Press the yellow dot and watch what happens… it changes color, it multiplies, and it even gets bigger — it’s like magic! This creative and wonderful book (translated from French) is so simple and yet so fun. Just be forewarned - you’ll probably be asked to read it again as soon as you’re done.

We got this book at the Queen Anne Book Company in Seattle on the way to Paris this summer. Each page offers a one-word introduction to a famous Parisian place, custom, or food accompanied by one of Jane Foster’s simple, eye-catching illustrations.

(8) Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle, illustrated by Jill McElmwery

Our hero is the selfless little blue truck, who rescues a larger truck with the help of his farm animal friends. Delightful.

(9) Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed by Eileen Christelow

It’s a silly, repetitive story — but that’s the point. It’s good for counting and memorization. My daughter loved wagging her finger as the doctor says “no more monkeys jumping on the bed!” Adorable.
